You’re done! 1899 on NetflixUp to frustrating ending. I have questions. I have many questions.
Warning: spoilers in 1899
The show starts with a very simple piece about a creepy steamer traveling from London to New York during 1899. Each passenger, we soon discover, is lying about his or her past, running from a secret, pretending to someone they aren’t, and often running from a secret. Usually, all of the above. For some, that might be enough to tell a story. However, the year 1899 is making a sharp right turn on Lost and Westworld. Soon, viewers will be trying solve the problem of time travel. and dimensional paths. Simulation. He can transfer his consciousness. This show could as well be Star Trek.
Friends ask me whether they should stay on and watch 1899. My answer is uncertain. Can? It’s okay, but not as satisfying for me as I wanted. It’s probably due to the unanswered questions the show bombards viewers with and then kind of…leaves.
Jantje Friese & Baran Bo Odar are the authors Deadline said If the reviews are favorable, they would like a multi-season 1899 episode. You never know, maybe some of these questions will be answered in Season 2 of the 1899 series, but until then they’ll play in mine like the numbers from Lost or the Labyrinth of Westworld, or the symbol of Game of Thrones.
Is Elliot still alive in the real world
Elliot, the mysterious little boy on the mysterious Prometheus, turns up to be the son Daniel and Maura. His brilliant mother devises a simulation to keep him alive after he succumbs to an illness. It looks like he’s going home in Season 2, but what if anything happens in this world? Could Maura be able to go back in history and find a cure?
What is Ciaran’s deal with Ciaran?
Ciaran is Maura’s brother. At first, we thought he was lost in Prometheus and that Maura had been looking for him. It turns out that Ciaran is actually running the simulation and keeping his father and sister captive. Season 2 must introduce the mysterious sibling to help us understand why he is doing this. WhichAll the things he did.
What is the Prometheus Project and how can it help you?
Maura wakes up in a new location. It is a starship that sails through space in 2099, named “Prometheus Project”. There are 1,423 passengers on board and 550 crew. We don’t know much about the “project”. It’s listed as a survival mission, so Earth may have been destroyed, or is about to be, and these people, just like the Kiberos migrants, are looking for a new home.
Is this a new spacecraft simulator?
We meet Maura on the spaceship. She used the new keys (her black wedding ring, colored pyramid toy) so we assume it’s her. But who knows? This simulation could be another simulation with the real one in place.
Is the blackvirus that Virginia got curable
Virginia Wilson touches a black metallic substance, which grows and spreads across Kerberos. He leaps up to her, turns her hand black, then appears to extend his arm towards her neck and side. She is able walk around with it, but cannot bend his hand. (Game of Thrones Fans will see). Similar to greyscale(The deadly chain that makes the body appear like it is made of stone. Henry, Maura’s father, and Daniel, her husband refer to it as “the viruses”, making it seem like a computer virus is crawling through simulation code. Is this what Daniel did to cause it? It doesn’t matter where it comes from, it has disturbing physical effects. We’ll be curious to see if there is a Season 2 version.
What was the purpose of the 1899 simulation?
It’s a great period piece, with geishas, gentlemen, and cosplay. If Project Prometheus is actually the reality and 2099 is the date, then why would the simulation be set on a ship 200-years earlier? It creates a nice analogy to immigrants fleeing their homeland to seek safety.
This question might already be answered. Jantje Friese, showrunner, says 1899 was loved by its creators because it is on the cusp a new century. It’s moving from the old days into a new future. “There was something special about that exact moment of time.” Freeze told the Netflix Tudum blog. In that period, modernity and old beliefs collided, and science-oriented thinking was born. [influencing society]You may still hold very religious beliefs [also prevalent]and these two things are intertwined, old and new.”
Have Kerberos Riders lost their memory?
Kerberos riders can also die, and their memories can be reset so that they can start again in a new version. However, the passengers were still alive after the end of the first season. Some (all?) of them are still alive. All (or some?) of them are in Project Prometheus. Will they ever forget their steamy lives? If the show is renewed, will we all be able to meet them all as the people of 2099?
What is 1011? Inverted triangles, pyramid games, or what do they mean?
Unknown symbols were found throughout the show. The cabin of Maura’s vessel and the dreaded injection area were both numbered 1011. This number appeared frequently, as well as the inverted triangle symbol (and pyramid game). Jantje Friese, Baran Bo Odar are the presenters I covered it on the Netflix Tudum blog, very. It turned out that they liked the pyramid or the tetrahedral problem and said the shape played a role for simulations and virtual reality.
“The same recurring triangle symbol represents the element of Earth,” Frieza said, in what appears to be an apparent reference to the end and the occupants fleeing Earth. Room 1011 was intended to hint at binary code. This could give away the possibility that the ship is a computer simulation. It will be interesting, however, to see if the same symbols and numbers appear in the spaceship or if they change.
What are bright green insects?
The show’s mechanical bugs, which crawl under and open doorways, sometimes create doors and lead Maura and Elliot, in one instance, to Ike the captain. We know that Elliot owned a green beetle named Alfred in his life. His mother, Maura, advised him to not keep it trapped. It appears that Maura created the bugs. Elliot will always keep his pet. However, more information about the bugs would be appreciated. There is certainly symbolism here, as the very insect Elliott wanted is opening doors and letting people go.
Were we really going to need a story about sexual assault?
Tove, a Danish character, is very pregnant. We learn that she was raped in front of her brother and parents. This is the most frightening scene in the show. It seems that there is no reason for it to happen except that all the passengers have horrible pasts full of secrets. She has not given birth as the show ends. What if she was a part of the new show, would she still be pregnant? Will the child ever become a reality? What about the other passengers’ history – will they all be reset or forgotten? Some of them could be an entire show on their own, including Ling Yi who disguises herself as a geisha after accidentally killing her friend, and the mysterious duo Ángel and Ramiro.
