It’s Friday night in America, and Spotify music hasn’t been played for a while. Users reported streaming stops abruptly. Some users have also reported that they cannot log back in after being logged out.
There have been more than 30,000 reports about the outage DownDetector.comIt starts at 8 p.m. ET and has risen sharply in the years since. a The status page of the company’s web APIIt’s a minor partial outage that affects only the player, consistent with what we see – but it’s also the most crucial part of Spotify.
The Spotify Status Twitter account acknowledged that the issues were present before 9 PM ET. Twitter“We’re looking into” and then followed up at 11.16 ET with a message saying, “Things are a lot better now.”
The last timeWe noticed this type of outage at Spotify’s service-level. A Google Cloud issue was the cause. However, so far there isn’t any indication of a larger cloud issue or routing issue that could have an impact on other services.
If you are still unable to stream your music, you may need to pass the aux cord along to someone who doesn’t have a Spotify account (they’d be easy to spot as they’re the only ones that don’t).
