According to the company, its US plant can produce 30,000 units per annum “at full maturity”, while its Australian plant can produce 5,000 units. Tritium didn’t specify when its plants would reach production capacity.
BP’s deals in Hertz and Tritium are a sign of the growing interest among legacy fossil fuel companies in promoting the growth electric vehicles. This week, Shell, an oil major, took over Volta’s electric vehicle charging network. Both of these actions may set the tone for 2023 when electric vehicles continue to gain momentum.
