‘Paper Empire’ Commands Attention at MIP London With Exclusive Screening and Star-Studded Premiere

The international television market witnessed an electrifying moment at MIP London as the highly anticipated action-drama series Paper Empire made its debut with an exclusive pilot screening for industry buyers. Hosted at the prestigious IET London on Savoy Place, the event brought together key cast members and creative forces behind the show, including creator, writer, and director Robert Gillings, lead actor Robert Davi, and co-stars Carol Alt and Charlotte Coles, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening of cinematic excellence.

Diving into the shadowy world of cryptocurrency deception, Paper Empire unravels the story of Laurence Fintch, a cunning financial strategist played by Robert Davi. Fintch orchestrates an elaborate Ponzi scheme, fabricating massive losses while covertly funneling wealth into an advanced digital construct dubbed “Digital Limbo.” As his machinations trigger a global financial catastrophe, law enforcement agencies and underground criminal enterprises converge in a high-stakes battle for control.

The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Hollywood heavyweights Wesley Snipes, Steve Guttenberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., Denise Richards, Kelsey Grammer, Anne Archer, AnnaLynne McCord, and Richard Grieco. Produced in partnership by Robert Gillings Productions, Tadross Media Group, and Inner Circle Films, Paper Empire has already made history as the first American television series to shoot an episode in Saudi Arabia’s breathtaking ancient city of AlUla.

Following the screening, a thought-provoking Q&A session was led by Mansha Daswani, Editor-in-Chief of World Screen. The panel, featuring Robert Gillings, Robert Davi, Carol Alt, and Charlotte Coles, engaged with an enthusiastic audience, delving into the show’s themes, creative process, and the growing intrigue surrounding the project.

The premiere drew an impressive array of high-profile attendees, including Heartstopper actor Bradley Riches, international model and Brunch with Amel host Amel Rachedi, actress and model Margo Dumas, influencer Borbala Kreutz, television personality and chef Chris Baber, and singer-songwriter Matt Johnson, founder of The Check-in mental health initiative. The event was further elevated by the presence of actresses Judith Shekoni (Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Heroes Reborn) and Victoria Ekanoye (Coronation Street, The Royals), reinforcing the series’ growing prestige.

Lucy Smith, Director of MIP London and MIPCOM CANNES, emphasized the significance of Paper Empire’s premiere, highlighting its bold narrative and the role independent productions play in reshaping the entertainment landscape. With a gripping storyline, a stellar cast, and increasing global interest, Paper Empire is poised to make a substantial impact once it finds its ideal broadcasting partner.
