Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 receives an update to fix a build issue

The Official changelogIt improves system stability, reliability, and performance. Samsung says that a power-on-related stability algorithm has been applied. The smartwatch maker warns that errors could occur during the update. Before installing the latest firmware, make sure you back up all important data. The November security patch is also included in the update.

Although the update did fix the issue for some users it did not solve the problem for all. Others weren’t so lucky. One user reported that the Galaxy Watch 4 was stuck in a loop after installing the GVI4 Update. Many users still have issues with the watch. Samsung may need to provide a fix in the near-term.

Firmware version R8xxXXU1GVI3It was intended to make minor improvements to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic’s system stability and reliability. It was initially introduced in South Korea, and has gradually been expanded to other regions. However, it seems that more people are installing the update and problems are beginning to emerge.

According to SamMobileSome Galaxy Watch 4 or Classic owners reported that their smartwatches became unusable after installing R8xxXU1GVI3 firmware. The update does not seem to work on these devices immediately. According to some reports, bricking can occur after the update has been installed. The smartwatch may either run out of power or the user manually restarts the watch.

This isn’t a phenomenon that happens in one market. Online reports seem to be coming from multiple countries. It is not known if the issue affects all Galaxy Watch 4 and Classic models that have been updated to the most recent firmware.

Samsung has released a file statementThe company stated that it is currently stalling the update on the matter:

We are aware of a few Galaxy Watch 4 series models that aren’t turning on after the last software update (VI3).

We have stopped updating and will soon release new software.

Customers who are having issues with their Galaxy Watch 4 series should visit the nearest Samsung Service Center, or call a center.

It is recommended that you wait for the next update to your smartwatch if you haven’t updated it yet. If you have installed the update already, the best thing to try is to keep the battery charged up until the next update is available. Unfortunately, if your Galaxy Watch 4 has been hacked, the patch won’t be enough to save it. Samsung will likely send you a replacement.
