Crunchyroll has released a new RPG called The Eminence in Darkness. It is based upon the anime and light novel of same name. It is somewhat related to light novels and anime, so it is definitely something anime fans would enjoy. It’s presented in such a manner that even people who have never seen it can still enjoy the experience. It is an RPG in every way. You summon characters to level up and then you can use them to advance in game. It is easy to use a few buttons for combat. Most players are just trying to hit combos to do huge amounts of damage. We wish we could add more, but there are some crashing bugs in the game that the developers are still working on. This will be stable in a week.

It’s not the same controls that fighters are used to. You can’t slash your way into victory every time there’s a gacha component to RPG-style leveling. If you have a bad match, online PvP can feel out of control. The game isn’t bad. The controls are excellent, the graphics are appealing, and there is a lot to do. However, we are not sure if it is a gacha RPG, or a fighting game, and the developers are still working out bugs. It has potential, but it is not yet clear how it will change.
