Microsoft is finally adding a screen recorder built into Windows. The Snipping Tool for Windows 11 will soon include screen recording. Windows users won’t have to rely only on the Xbox Game Bar and third-party apps to record their screens.

“We know Snipping Tools is a favorite among Insiders, so we’re excited to offer a built in screen recorder with this upgrade!” Dave Grochocki is the Principal Product Manager for Windows inbox apps. “Snipping Tool has made it simple to capture and share content from your PC, and with built in screen recording, we’re expanding these capabilities to include more types of content.”

It will be useful for those who only want to capture an app and not view it fully. The Xbox Game Bar can only record individual apps, but you have much less control over what you record.
This snipping tool has been tested by Microsoft with Windows 11 testers via the Dev Channel. It is likely that it will be released to everyone using Windows 11 within a few weeks to months. It’s great that Windows finally has an integrated screen.
