The Windows Snipping Tool app finally adds a screen recorder feature — a tool that PCWorld might care more about than you, frankly.
A screenshot was the best way to show off a new feature or app for years. It would be easy to share the image on social media or the web. The video shows you. HowThe process is captured and shared once it’s done. It was strange that Windows did not offer a fancy way to capture this information, other than relatively. Microsoft is changing all of this. The Windows Insider Program, and specifically the Dev Channel, will soon be rolling out an updated build (build 11221.35.0). This release — which won’t be available to all Dev Channel testers, unfortunately — will add the new screen recorder.
The “Record” option will appear next to “Snip”, the screen recorder’s button. Microsoft will let users pre-select the area they want to capture before they start. This is a nice touch. You can also preview your recording prior to sharing it.

Microsoft’s blog post explaining this new feature doesn’t mention if there is a recording time limit. (A screenshot shows that the new tool can record for longer than 30 mins. Microsoft doesn’t specify what formats you can save to or whether they will allow MP4 video and/or GIFs.
It’s still a good indication that this feature will soon be available in Windows. This will allow you (or us!) to show others how Windows works.
