NASA’s Artemis 1 Orion spacecraft returns from Earth

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson described it as “an extraordinary day” during the broadcast of Artemis I’s mission to space agency.

“It’s historic, because now we’re returning into space, into deepspace with a brand new generation,” he said. He described it as a new era for human spaceflight, calling it “an era that represents new technology and a whole new breed astronaut and a vision to the future.” He said that the heat shield was one of the mission’s most important tests and it worked “beautifully.”

The flight will open the door for future missions with astronauts aboard. NASA engineers will now analyze the mission to find out if they can improve it before sending crews aboard.
