The internals include an Intel Core i7-12700H CPU and Nvidia RTX3060 graphics card, 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD storage. It has a lot memory and storage. This is fine if you run a lot more resource-intensive applications. We did have a few issues with the device.

This includes tests of CPU and GPU performance, battery life, etc. The idea behind the benchmarks is to push the laptop’s limits and then compare it with others we have tested. Below is a breakdown of each test, along with the reasons we did it.
Windows laptops
- PCMark 10The PCMark 10 benchmark measures how well a laptop computer can handle general tasks like web browsing, word processing and spreadsheets.
- handbrakeHandBrake – HandBrake is more intensive than PCMark 10 It measures the time it takes for a laptop’s CPU to encode a 30GB file.
- CinebenchCinebench tests the CPU core. Displays a 2D scene for a brief period of time.
- 3DMark3DMark is a tool that checks 3D performance over time. It plays back graphics-intensive clips. This is how we test a laptop’s GPU.
- Video rundown: To test battery life, we loop a 4K movie using the Windows 10 Movies & TV App until our laptop dies.

What amount of processing power do I need?
A lot of processing power is required for engineering tasks. Therefore, we recommend an Intel Core i5 (or higher). The Intel Core i7 processor is the best choice. This processor is ideal for multitasking, gaming and other demanding tasks.
RAM is it important?
definitely! The speed of your programs is directly affected by how much RAM you have. Engineering students will likely use programs like Java or Python every day. It is therefore crucial to ensure these programs run smoothly. 8GB is the minimum, 16GB is recommended.
What about storage?
For large amounts of engineering software, you will need a lot of storage. We recommend at least 512GB SSD (Solid State Drive). If you have the funds and space, consider 1TB of NVMe SSD storage.
How heavy should my laptop be?
You don’t want to carry a five-pound beast from one class to another. The laptop should be three to four pounds. A 13- or 14 inch screen is best for portability and price.
