In the last fifteen years, customs have changed dramatically. mechanical keyboardsI became more brutal. We’ve seen everything, from keycaps to very specific switches to 3D-printed cases, and everything in between. We thought we had seen it all, until we saw the one we now have. The Finalmouse Centrepiece Keyboard features transparent mechanical keycaps/switch covers that rest above an LCD display with full-function. Why? Why?
The keyboard’s preloaded video Skins react to user’s typing. However, the CG videos beneath can morph dynamically in Real Time because they are embedded in Unreal’s game engine. Steam will offer new skins (paid and free) via the app. Screen and video run on the keyboard’s internal CPU/GPU, without the need for any additional resources. The device can store up to three videos.
How does it work? Finalmouse claims the display uses a “DisplayCircuit laminated-glass stack.” It looks like a thin translucent membrane that covers the keys and contains hair-like electrical wires. Matrix circuitRegistering requires a keystroke. It’s a nice redesign to some very basic keyboard components, which all sit on top of an LCD screen.
The board is housed 65 % flat in a CNC-milled aluminum case with monitor controls built into it. The screen and keys are gasket-mounted. They feature linear keys that follow the BlackInk design. Finalmouse claims that the board can withstand severe abuse and is completely player-proof, but it doesn’t explain exactly what that means.
The Finalmouse video claims that the keyboard will retail for $349 when it goes on the market in the first quarter of next year. This is a high price for a standard mechanical keyboard but it’s still a fraction of the price of many custom boutique designs. GMMK Pro with all the trimmingsIt is also available at the same price as the original. It is worth noting that high-end panels can come with a few extras, such as a dedicated handle, wireless options and interchangeable keys.
But who cares? You’ll need the most bizarre keyboard if you want to make these amazing sounds in /r/battles. This keyboard will be the focal point starting in 2023. I don’t know if anyone can actually let you write on water.
