You can’t help but think about the many controversies surrounding TwitterA hacker claims that he is selling data from 400 million users to get the project to its final stage.
The data was allegedly captured in 2021 and obtained via an API vulnerability which has since been fixed.
The threat actor, who calls himself “Ryushi,” advised Elon Musk and Twitter to buy the data for the asking price of $200,000, or face a fine even larger than GDP.

The threat actor wrote:
“Buying this data alone is the best way to avoid $276 million GDPR fines, like Facebook (given 533,000,000 users canceled), and then I will delete this thread so that I never sell this data again.”
Leaked data includes email addresses, usernames and follower counts as well as creation dates and phone numbers.
If a sale is not made to Twitter (or to any other party that needs the information), the hacker claims they’ll sell the data to multiple people for $60,000 each.

WhatsApp came under fire recently after a data leak exposed personal information on over 500 million users. However this is now believed by many to be a reusing of a leak from 2019.
