The BritboxThere are many mystery TV series available for streaming on the streaming service. One of her newest shows stands out among the rest. This three-part series is based on the 1930s novel of Agatha Christie. It begins with a young man playing golf. He sees a man in serious pain and goes to his aid. The man succumbs to his injuries quickly, but he doesn’t forget his last words: “Why didn’t they ask Evans?” The man, with the help of a young girl, decides to become an investigator to discover why the dying man said those words. Both discover that there is more to the story than they initially thought.
Hugh Laurie is best-known for his roles in movies and as a star on House TV, and this adaptation was written and directed. Although it has a dark UK feel, the characters and plot are still very entertaining.
Rehearsal (HBO Max)

This is the only non-scripted offering on this list. Nathan Felder, comedian, used his deadpan humor previously on Nathan For You, a reality show where he used his “expertise to help people in trouble with their businesses.” This is the story. HBO MaxIt turns out that it does something similar. He still helps people, but now he does it by creating rehearsals to prepare for the big moments in someone’s lives, such as a wedding proposal or motherhood preparations.
Felder, however, is subject to pressure to postpone his life simulation. This new show goes deeper. It’s all meta and funny, sometimes even dramatic.
Pachinko (Apple TV Plus).

This family series is based upon the bestseller novel of the name by Min Jin Lee. Apple TV Plus. It all began in Korea in the early 20th Century when a young girl was involved with a wealthy man. This brief interaction quickly has huge ramifications and starts a story that will last decades. These aren’t melodramatic soap operas. It is a family’s life, with ups as well as downs.
Afterparty (Apple TV Plus).

He was soon discovered dead and there are many suspects involved in the LAPS discovery process. This sitcom is about one character at each party. We get to see what happened through their eyes. This new narrative structure makes for a hilarious show that will keep you guessing until the end who the killer is.

A family embarks on a road trip to find a small, isolated community. They soon discover that they are unable to leave the city limits and that other residents of the town are in the same position. Even worse, things appear at night…
This horror series borrows elements from Lost, The Prisoner, and Predator films. It all comes together to create a terrifying series.
Paper Girls (Amazon Prime Video).

Amazon Prime VideoHe had many great shows that premiered in 2022. One of them was this entertaining teen drama that was based on Brian K. Vaughan’s Image Comics series, and illustrated by Cliff Chiang. Four young paper delivery girls are caught up in a stormy storm in 1988. Soon, they discover that they have been transported forward into 2019, and that one of them is now facing her adult self. Later, the girls learn that they are caught in a conflict between two factions that want to rule.
This show’s strength is its young cast. They play teens who find themselves in an unexpected circumstance. There are many time travel routines. Unfortunately, there won’t be a second season. But it’s worth the effort to see what we got.
A League of Their Own (Amazon Prime Video).

Amazon Prime Video launched another amazing show. It is a TV adaptation of a real-life historical incident. Many American men fought overseas in World War II. This included several professional baseball players. A plan was developed to create an all-women’s professional baseball league. Although the show is fictional, it’s perfectly acceptable. The message of the series is that women are capable of doing anything a man can, and that no gender should stop anyone from dreaming of playing any other sport.

AMC PlusIt might be home to future series based upon The Walking Dead, but it also hosts a number great original series. Anne Rice’s latest adaptation of the novel is one example. The series stays true to the source material. The framing device remains in the present as a journalist begins interviewing an elderly man who claims to have been a vampire for over 100 years. The series takes place mainly in New Orleans, in the early 1900s. This is where the Lestat, a centuries-old vampire, first transforms our story narrator into a vampire.
The series embraces all aspects of the LGBTQ+ themes and pure horror elements, unlike the 1994 film adaptation.
Our Flag Means Death (HBO Max)

HBO Max must not remove this show form its streaming service. Although it is a parody of pirate movies, shows and shows, it is also loosely based upon a real person’s story. Stede Bonnet, a gentleman Englishman in the early 18th century, decided to leave his comfortable life and travel as Gentleman Pirate. This series is not historical fiction. It is a funny comedy about pirates. Bonnet also meets Blackbeard, a legendary pirate.
The Ladder (HBO Max).

True crime is a popular topic on broadcast shows. This HBO Max show, a true crime documentary docudrama, is heavily inspired by Death on the Stairs. The people filming it get involved in the case. True Crime is about Michael Peterson, who was accused of pushing his wife down the stairs at their North Carolina house and was later arrested for murder.
Toni Collette is Toni Collette’s wife and Colin Firth is a great Michael Peterson. The Petersons’ nieces and nephews, as well as Toni Collette as his wife, are great supporting casts. This scripted series also features the documentary crew, which shows how they affected the case.
