This story is part of Welcome to Marsour series that explores the red planet.
NASA’s Perseverance rover, is not the only one operating in Jezero Crater on Mars. Its superior companion, Ingenuity Helicopter is still in flight. Percy is an avid amateur photographer, but he doesn’t take many photos of the mysterious creativity. You’ll need all your image-hunting skills in order to find this shot in a Martian landscape.
The image was taken on January 8, just days following the completion of the helicopter’s 38th flight. The view shows Jezero’s rocky stretch, with visible wheel tracks left behind by the rover. In the distance, you can see wavy sand dunes.
Ingenuity’s latest aerial flight took her 363 feet (110 m) across Mars in a repositioning mission. Percy is kept in close contact by the helicopter team so they can keep in touch.
It might seem at first that the photo of the rover is a creative expression of creativity. The main body is approximately the same size of a tissue container. For a better chance at creativity, expand the offer.
Still looking? Here is another tip. NASA mapThe Martian terrain is well-represented by the helicopter and current rover locations. You can see how creative the photo is from the satellite view.
Ingenuity was a history maker, marking the first powered and controllable flight on another planet. The first Martian plane took to the air in April 2021. It has survived much longer than expected. NASA was unsure if the plane would fly one time, but it has made numerous flights.
Still looking? Are you still looking?
If you magnify the image and adjust the contrast, you can clearly see the Ingenuity’s boxy body and angled legs.
Percy’s photos of Mars are something I look at almost every day. But, until a Twitter user pointed it out, I didn’t notice the helicopter. DejaSu pointed it out. “The Creation is in the closest/best view we have seen in a very long time, safely in the Flight 38 landing area on the side of a shallow sand ripple, about 280m NE,” DejaSu tweeted.
Cross-eyed DejaSu 3D can be even more fun. You can look at the two images, then cross your eyes to see a 3D version. It works with some eyeballing.
NASA has identified the long-range robots Percy and Ingenuity. “Mars Helicopter, I and I are closer than we’ve ever been in a while, but guess who I’ve spotted resting on the dunes among flights.” Team Perseverance tweeted Wednesday.
Mars is home of many natural wonders, starting with A A cat-like rockTo the slope-like face. Some amazing things are the ones sent by humanity. Like a helicopter. Mars.
